Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet has approved the setting-up of 659 new Administrative Units in the State. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said these include 46 Sub-Divisions, 135 Tehsils, 177 CD Blocks and 301 Niabats. Mr. Abdullah said, the Cabinet has directed Finance and Revenue Departments to prepare a roadmap for implementation of these new units. Describing the decision as historic, the Chief Minister said, this will benefit a large number of people in the State.
