J&K: BSF officer dies of bullet injury from own service rifle in Kathua

In Jammu and Kashmir, an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Border Security Force (BSF) today died of a bullet injury from his own service rifle at a forward post near the International Border in Kathua district of Jammu division.<br />'' <br />'' AIR Correspondent reports that the deceased was on duty on the International Border at Gurnam Border Outpost in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district when his colleagues found him in an injured condition with a gunshot injury from his own service rifle.<br />'' <br />'' He was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he was declared brought dead. However, it was not immediately clear whether the 55 year old ASI of BSF, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, committed suicide or died after his rifle went off accidentally.<br />'' <br />''The police have started inquest proceedings.
