J&K: BSF jawan martyred, Pakistani Ranger also killed in retaliatory firing

In the latest incidence of ceasefire violation in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces this evening resorted to heavy shelling in Hirangar sector of Kathua district and sambha sector along the International Border and Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district along the Line of Control. Security forces have been giving befitting reply to the Pakistani shelling and exchange of fire is still continuing.<br/><br/>Heavy exchange of fire between BSF and Pakistani Rangers is also continuing in R.S.Pura sector of Jammu district along the International Border. In retaliation to Pakistani firing the BSF has claimed that one Pakistani Ranger was killed and another was critically injured in cross border firing in R.S.Pura sector along the International Border this afternoon.<br/><br/>Earlier the Pakistani forces overnight resort' to heavy mortar shelling in R.S.Pura sector had left a BSF Jawan martyred while at least six civilians injured.<br/><br/>In another development, India has asked Pakistan to take action against terrorists. It asked Islamabad to honour its commitments made in the past to not allow its territory be used by terror elements. Replying to a query on ceasefire violations and continuing attacks, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in New Delhi that all the terrorists attacks in parts of Jammu and Kashmir are being carried out with the support of Pakistan, which is matter of grave concern. Mr Swarup said instead of taking action against terrorists, Pakistan is giving shelter to them.<br/><br/>In the wake of Pakistani shelling in civilian areas, People from the areas along the International Border have been evacuated or shifting on their own to safer places. Besides human loss, Pakistani shelling has also been causing huge damage to houses, live-stock and standing crops.
