J&K assembly: BJP walked out on Tiranga Yatra issue during Governor’s address

The Budget Session of Jammu and Kashmir Legislator began in the winter capital, Jammu today with the address of the Governor, Mr. N.N. Vohra to both the houses. As the Governor was about to start his address, BJP Legislator party leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta raised the issue of stopping its Tiranga Yatra and preventing its two central leaders Ms. Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley from entering Jammu City and deporting them to Punjab from Jammu Airport. He was soon joined by his party MLAs who raised slogans against the Government. All the BJP leaders then staged a walkout after which Governor Mr. N.N. Vohra began his address.In the address, Mr. Vohra said that there has been a progressive improvement in the internal security situation in the past few years but added that the continuance of terrorist activities and extremist ideologies is a cause of concern which besides causing recurring human and economic losses is giving a serious setback to the entire process of development. The Governor reiterated the resolve of the State Government to find solution to any contentious issue through conciliation and dialogue. Mr. Vohra said that in pursuance of the Government’s commitment to ensure Zero Tolerance of human rights violations, all security forces have been directed to most strictly observe the Standing Operating Procedures while carrying out anti-terrorist operations in any part of the State.
