J&K approves project aimed at creating comprehensive soil and land resource information system

Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a project aimed at creating a comprehensive soil and land resource information system. AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that the project, known as the Jammu & Kashmir Soil and Land Resource Information System (JKSLRI), is designed to help in decision-making for the sustainable use of soil and land resources in the region, which is considered ecologically fragile.<br />'' <br />'' With its goal of providing a scientific base for crop diversification and soil suitability, the JKSLRI project is set to revolutionize the way we approach land use and soil management in the region. The project was designed to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on soil and land resources, making it an essential tool for decision-making when it comes to sustainable use of soil and land resources.<br />'' <br />''The project will initially be started in four districts of J&K has several objectives, including the creation of a robust land use policy on agriculture and urbanization, crop-land suitability based on land evaluation, capacity building of farmers and other stakeholders on soil health management, and the establishment of one static and 25 mini soil testing laboratories in each selected district.
