<span style="color: #222222;">Jammu and Kashmir administration has considerably boosted and upgraded the health sector for ensuring providing better healthcare facilities to the people of the Union Territory. <br />''<br />''Apart from the previously established Government Medical Colleges at Jammu and Srinagar, the government established Five New Medical Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir with modern infrastructure.  Enormous steps and initiatives were taken to provide the best infrastructure, equipment and human resource to the people in the newly established Medical Colleges as per the MCI Guidelines.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">765 crore rupees were released by the Centre for augmentation of these newly established Medical Colleges.  Each Institution has been sanctioned 189 crore rupees which include 139 crores for Civil Works and 50 crores for the procurement of machinery and other equipment.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Apart from providing best healthcare facilities to the J&K populace,  these medical colleges are expected to accommodate 500 MBBS students and 1400 para medical aspirants annually.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Moreover, for the first time, the number of Health Cards which have been issued in the Schools under "Health Card Scheme" has crossed the Eight Lakh mark in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.  AIR Correspondent reports, after getting the nod from the Union Health Ministry,  Health & Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir established five new medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir at Baramulla, Anantnag, Doda, Kathua and Rajouri. These medical colleges not only caters to the healthcare needs of the people but also imparts training to more than 1400 para medical aspirants.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, these medical colleges have proven a boon for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and have been at the forefront by providing uninterrupted services to COVID affected patients. <br />''<br />''The government is also mulling to set-up coronavirus testing laboratories in these colleges with all the modern infrastructure to tackle the prevailing situation.
