In Jammu & Kashmir, two terrorists were killed in a gunfight after Army foiled Infiltration bid along Line of Control in north Kashmir's Kupwara district today. The infiltration attempt was repulsed in Machhil sector of the district. The identity of the slain terrorits is being ascertained.<br/><br/>Defence spokesman told AIR that weapons and warlike store were recovered from the Machhil encounter site. He said the counter infiltration operation in the area is underway. Defence statistics suggest that eight militants were killed in Machhil sector during past one and a half months till date.<br/><br/>Three militants were killed along LoC in July after Army repulsed infiltration attempt in Nowgam Handwara sector of Kupwara district. In Gurez sector of north Kashmir's Bandipora district, five armed infiltrators were killed during counter infiltration operation in July this<br/><br/><br/>On the other hand Pakistani troops today again resorted to firing and shelling in Arnia sector along the International Border in Jammu district.<br/><br/>BSF sources told AIR that Pakistani troops started firing and shelling targeting Indian positions and civilian areas in Arnia sector around midnight. This prompted BSF personnel to retaliate effectively. The exchange of fire lasted till this morning. However, there is no report of any causality or injury from the Indian side.<br/><br/>There have been continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the International Border in Jammu district for the past four days, in which one BSF jawan was killed and four others were injured.
