J&K: 11 killed in road accident in Doda district, PM announces ex-gratia

In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, eleven passengers<b> </b>travelling in a minibus were killed and several others seriously injured after the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Batote-Kishtwar highway in Doda district of Jammu division in the morning today.<br />''<br />''The minibus was on its way from Thathri to Doda when it met with the accident near Soi-Gwari area, after the driver lost control  and the bus fell along the banks of Chenab River. So far 11 bodies were retrieved including the driver of the mini bus while 15 injured have been shifted to GMC Hospital Doda for treatment.<br />''<br />''The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the deaths in the road accident and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives, and Rs. 50,000 for those injured. <br />''<br />''Union Minister for PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh has said that all the assistance will be provided to local authorities. He spoke to DC, Doda and assured him of whatever further assistance required. The minister also paid condolences to the families of those killed in the road accident.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has also expressed condolences and announced Rs. 2 Lakh ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives.</span>
