The Jharkhand poll verdict has thrown up a hung assembly yet again. No single party or alliance is in a position to muster majority in the 81 member assembly. With a fractured mandate, the JMM again emerges as a key player in government formation.<br/><br/>The Congress and its ally Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) has emerged as the largest group winning 25 seats. The Congress has substantially improved its position in the state winning 14 seats. The party had nine seats in the outgoing assembly. Congress ally JVM (Prajatantrik) led by Babulal Marandi has bagged 11 seats.<br/><br/>The major loss was for the BJP. The party has won 18 seats, while allies Janata Dal (U) have bagged two seats. The BJP had 30 seats in the 2005 assembly election and its ally JDU six. But at the time of dissolution of the House, the BJP had 21 and JDU 3 members.<br/><br/>The JMM has improved its tally by one seat bagging 18 seats. In the last assembly, it had 17 seats. <br/><br/>RJD had 7 seats in the last election. It has now won five seats. RJD allies, CPI, CPIM and Lok Jan Shakhti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan all drew blank. BSP also could not open its account in the state in this election.<br/><br/>The prominent winners include state BJP President Raghubar Das, Senior Party leader C.P.Singh, Samresh Singh of JVM (Prajatangrik), former state congress President Sarfaraz Ahmad, Saurabh Narayan Singh also Congress, senior RJD leader Annapurna Devi, Sudesh Kumar Mahto and Chandra Prakash Choudhary both former ministers from AJSU, Bandhu Tirkey , a former minister of Jharkhand Janadhikar Morcha, former JMM Minister Nalin Soren, another JMM leader Hemant Soren and Vinod Kumar Singh of CPIML.<br/><br/>The prominent losers include former Minister Chandra Mohan Prasad of BJP, leader of Congress Legislature party in the outgoing House Manoj Yadav, State Congress President Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, senior BJP leader Lok Nath Mahto, Joba Manjhi of UGDP and Stephen Marandi, a former Congress Minister.<br/><br/>Here is the latest tally from Jharkhand;<br/><br/> Total seats – 81<br/><br/> Results declared – 81<br/><br/> Congress and allies won 25 seats . <br/><br/> BJP and allies – 20<br/><br/> JMM – 18<br/><br/> RJD – five .<br/><br/> and others 13<br/>
