Jharkhand heads for hung assembly, JMM may hold key

Vishnu Prasad Bhaiya of JMM has won the Jamtara assembly seat by a margin of 12,845 votes, defeting his nearest rival Furkan Ansari of Congress. Another JMM Candidate Paulus Soren has been declared elected from Torpa assembly seat by a margin of 15,899 votes over his nearest BJP rival Koche Munda. Jharkhand is heading for hung assembly again. The results and trends so far indicate that no single party or alliance may be in a position to muster majority in the 81 member assembly. With a fractured mandate, the JMM again may emerge as a key player in government formation.
