Jharkhand HC stays CBI probe against former DGP

The Jharkhand High Court today stayed till Nov 30 a Central Bureau of Investigation probe in the alleged misuse of secret service funds in which a former Jharkhand DGP is under investigation. This was disclosed by the Jharkhand advocate general A. K. Sinha. Speaking to the media person, Advocate General said that Justice R.R. Prasad has stayed the CBI probe in the SS funds scam till Nov 30. The next hearing of the case will take place on Nov 30.The court also issued notices to the Central and State governments in the case. Both the governments had given their consent for a CBI probe in the SS funds scam.It may be recalled that the former director general of police V.D. Ram moved the high court to challenge the state government's consent for a CBI probe in scam. The scam is related to the withdrawal of 5.60 crore rupees on March 16, 2006 and 2.50 crore rupees on March 7, 2008 from the police fund. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has also pointed to the alleged misuse of funds and recommended a probe in the matter.
