In Jharkhand, the Governor Mr. K. Shankar Narayanan is in consultation with his three advisors and legal and constitutional experts on the formation of a new government in the state. Raj Bhavan sources say , the formation of the new government would be possible only when President's Rule is revoked. Jharkhand is under President Rule since January, 2009.
JMM Supremo Shibu Soren had staked the claim to form the government in Jharkhand. He met the Governor in Ranchi yesterday alongwith his senior party leaders and newly elected members at Raj Bhawan. Senior BJP leaders including Yashwant Sinha, party's National Vice President Karuna Shukla, General Secretary Anant Kumar, Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda and State Party President Raghubar Das were present during the meeting with Governor. Mr. Soren submitted a list of 42 MLAs which included 18 from JMM, 18 from BJP, 5 from All Jharkhand Students Union led by Sudesh Mahto and one independent – Bandhu Tirkey, a former education minister in Madhu Koda government. Latet, BJP ally Janata Dal(United), which has two members, met the Governor and handed over a letter in favour of Shibu Soren in the formation the new government. The total number of MLAs backing Mr Soren went up to 44 in a house of 81.
Congress has dubbed the BJP's support to Shibu soren as double standard saying it is the high point of unprincipled and unethical politics. Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said, till Friday, Arun Jaitley and BJP were crying hoarse about Shibu Soren's criminal past. But now they have no hesitation about aligning with him.
