In Jharkhand, campaigning ended this afternoon for the state Assembly by-election in Kharsawan, from where the ruling alliance supported BJP candidate and Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda is contesting. He is facing a united opposition candidate Krishna Gagrai of the JVM (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha). The by- election is scheduled to be held on Friday and the result will be announced on the 17th. Chief Minister Arjun Munda, also an MP from Jamshedpur, had earlier won from Kharsawan three times- in 1995, 2000 and 2003, but this time he is facing a united opposition candidate.
