Jharkhand Bandh remained peaceful

In Jharkhand no untoward incident was reported from any parts of the state during day – long bandh. Police Spokesperson V.S. Deshmuh told AIR that the security measures have stepped up to meet any eventuality. Maoists have given bandh call in protest against police operation against them.<br/>AIR Ranchi correspondent reports that elaborate security arrangements have been made in the wake of the Maoist bandh call in the run-up to the Assembly elections.<br/>Security personnel have been put on high alert and a massive combing operation is on in sensitive areas of the state to diffuse maoist action. Maoists are demanding withdrawal of security arrangements occupying schools and government buildings.<br/>Among its other demands, the banned outfit has asked the government to put an immediate end to proposed Operation Green Hunt and withdrawal security forces occupying schools and government buildings.<br/>The train traffic on Howrah-Mumbai rail section has been restored after 20 hours in Chakradharpur Rail Division under South Eastern Railway. The rail traffic was disrupted following blowing up of railway track between Manoharpur and Posoita railway stations. One passenger was killed and 47 injured when eight bogies of the Tata-Bilaspur passenger train derailed after Maoists blew up railway tracks in West Singhbhum district last night.<br/>
