Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passes resolution seeking separate code for Adivasis

The Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passed a resolution seeking a separate code for Adivasis. The resolution, which was passed yesterday, demanded provisions for a separate Adivasi/Sarna religious code for inclusion in the census register.<br />'' <br />''After passage of the resolution, Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, said  the religious code will enable to  give an exact number of tribal communities, help document their population, preserve tribal languages, culture and history and help them avail their constitutional rights.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The main aim of this resolution is to address the concerns of the tribal population, which is declining after every census. It was 38.03% in 1031, which came down to 26.02% in 2011. The rate of population growth of the tribes too was low compared to the growth of other communities in the successive census.</span><br />
