Jhalanath to be sworn-in as 34th PM of Nepal

The veteran CPN (UML) leader Jhalanath Khanal will be sworn-in as the 34th Prime Minister of Nepal in Kathmandu this afternoon. President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new Prime Minister at a ceremony to be held at Rashtapati Bhavan at 3.PM local time. A meeting of the Prime Minister-elect Jhalanath Khanal and CPN(Maoist) Chairman Prachanda in Kathmandu yesterday formed an eight member committee to discuss power sharing and common minimum programme of the new government. The standing committees of both the parties in their separate meetings to be held today will finalize their ministerial nominees in the new government and the common minimum programme of the newly formed alliance. AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that the swearing-in of the new Prime Minister will provide Nepal with an effective government after seven months of political deadlock and uncertainty.
