Jerusalem: Israeli police clash with Palestinians in Al-Aqsa mosque

Israeli police have clashed with Palestinians in one of the most sensitive religious sites in Jerusalem. Police raided the compound after a small group of Palestinians spent the night in the al-Aqsa mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites, because of the rumors that the Jewish hardliners might try take over the site. Police said they entered the compound to disperse at least 20 Palestinians who were throwing stones at visitors. The site also contains the Western Wall, a sacred site for Jews. Tensions have been high in recent days following clashes in the West Bank town of Hebron over Israel listing two disputed shrines as heritage sites
