JD(U) leaders to meet in Patna tomorrow to discuss alliance with BJP

Top leaders of Janata Dal (United) are to meet in Patna tomorrow to discuss the future of its alliance with the BJP.

The meeting comes amid reports that the two parties are headed for a split with the JD(U) saying that problems and difficulties have cropped up in the wake of Narendra Modi's elevation in the BJP.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told reporters that the situation is difficult and what is to be done is being discussed.

JD(U) President Sharad Yadav, however, dismissed reports of any ultimatum having been served on the BJP.

BJP President Rajnath Singh said that his party would never like to break the alliance with the JD(U).

The Congress has refused to comment on the issue saying it is an internal matter of the NDA.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechuri met Sharad Yadav in New Delhi on Friday.

On being asked whether the Left Parties plan to join any third front, Yechuri said, it depends upon the programmes and policies of such a platform.
