Ahead of final phase of assembly elections, JD(U), Congress and CPI(M) today again approached Election Commission against advertisements put out by BJP in Bihar newspapers. They alleged that advertisements are open breach of Model Code of Conduct. A delegation of party leaders met Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi on the issue.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, JD(U) spokesperson K C Tyagi alleged that BJP continues to violate the poll norms despite Commission's warning and banning of its earlier advertisements. He said the delegation urged the poll body to keep a watch on BJP as the ruling party at the Centre may publish advertisement in newspapers tomorrow on the poll day which could be of communal hatred nature.

Mr. Tyagi also accused the Commission of being in-active in taking action against BJP leaders for making provocative remarks. Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza said the advertisement shows that BJP does not bother about the Election Commission's direction. She said this is an attempt by the BJP to polarize the voters.

CPI(M) today demanded that Election Commission should take suo-motu action against the BJP for alleged inflammatory advertisement campaign ahead of final phase of Bihar assembly polls. In a series of tweets, party General Secretary Sitaram Yechury attacked BJP over the advertisement in newspapers. He said people will not forget rising prices of pulses and divisive politics will seal NDA's fate in the polls.

Today's advertisement targets Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asking him why he has been mum on repeated insults to cow made by partners of his grand alliance. The advertisement also carries comments purportedly made by RJD leaders Lalu Prasad and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah favouring beef consumption.
