JD-U releases party manifesto, promises 'special category' status for Bihar

The JD(U) promises extending reservation in private sector jobs, law for safeguard of migrant labourers and 'special category' status for Bihar and other least developed states. In its election manifesto released in Patna today, the party also pledged to replicate Bihar's successful experiment of providing 50 per cent reservation to women in panchayat and urban local bodies and “an affirmative action” for giving reservation to the economically and educationally weaker sections among forward castes.Manifesto was released by party national president Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister and senior party leader Nitish Kumar.

The party also pledged zero tolerance against corruption, communal hatred, tension and communal forces. Party said that Development with justice must be its guiding credo. Addressing a press conference Party President Sharad Yadav said corruption and communalism are two big challenges before the country. We are committed to fight against both. He said BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is trying to exploit people's emotions in his election meetings.
