Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalaithaa will be released from the Bangalore central jail this afternoon.
The special court, which had convicted Jayalalithaa and three others in a disproportionate asset case, is yet to receive the bail order which was issued by the Supreme Court yesterday. When advocates present the apex court order, the Special court Judge will issue the release order to the Central Jail after prescribing terms of surety.
The other three convicts in the case Sasikala Nararajan, V Sudhakaran and J Elavarisi will also be released today after paying the surety prescribed by the Special court.
The Bangalore city police have imposed restriction on the movement of people under section 144 in one kilometre radius around the Central Jail. Many supporters of Jayalalithaa have gathered around the jail since yesterday.
