The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa today said that the State Cabinet has decided to release the three convicts Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case within three days from today.

Making a suo moto statement in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Ms. Jayalalithaa emphatically said that the decision would be conveyed to the Central Government as per Indian Constitution Cr.PC 435 and even if the Centre rejects the decision, they will be released within three days.

Other convicts who were sentenced to life imprisonment, namely, Nalini, Jayakumar, Robert Paes and Ravichandran will also be released. Ms. Jayalalithaa also said that the state government considered that they have spent 23 years of their life in prison.
