Tamilnadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has written a letter to Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh objecting to the constitution of the team of experts to formulate a Contingency Response Plan for the Mullaperiyar Dam by the National Disaster Management Authority.

Ms. Jayalalithaa reiterated that the constitution of the team of experts by the National Disaster Management Authority to look into the safety of the Dam and downstream areas is unwarranted at this stage as the matter is pending before the Supreme Court and the Empowered Committee constituted by it.

She has insisted for the withdrawal of the office memorandum of the National Disaster Management Authority issued in this regard on the 12th of this month.
