Jayalalithaa released from jail

The AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha was released from Bangalore central jail Saturday afternoon after 21 days of imprisonment.

Earlier in the day the advocates of Jayalalithaa had submitted apex court interim bail order in the Special Court.

Judge Michael D’Cunha issued the release order after a bond for two crore rupees and surety of assets by two persons was furnished in the court. Jayalalitha was undergoing imprisonment since 27th of last month, after being convicted in the disproportionate asset case by a special court in Bangalore.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Pannerselvam, ministers and party workers were present during Jayalalithaa’s release from the Central jail.

After the release Jayalalitha and headed to HAL airport to fly back to Chennai. Jayalalithaa had on Friday got a major relief when the Supreme Court granted her conditional bail and suspended the sentence of four years simple imprisonment given by the trial court in Bangalore in the 18-year old illegal assets case.

Jayalalithaa's close aide Sasikala and her relatives Sudhakaran and Elavarasi, who also fufilled similarconditions, also walked out of jail. There was heavy police security around the central jail to prevent any untoward incident.
