The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha has urged the centre to take immediate steps to declare Ram Sethu as a National monument, due to its archaeological, historical and cultural importance. In a letter to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, she said the centre should communicate this to the Supreme court at the earliest.Supreme court had earlier directed to the Additional Solicitor General to obtain the remarks of Centre on the declaration of the site as a National Monument in the Sethu Samudram case.
