Jayalalitha to remain in jail, bail plea adjourned till Oct 7

The Karnataka High Court today adjourned the hearing of AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha bail pleas till Tuesday. The High Court vacation bench ruled in its special sitting that Jayalalitha’s bail plea can be heard by a regular bench after the vacations.

Justice Rathnakala opined that a case of such magnitude cannot be heard by a vacation bench.

The regular court will open after Bakrid on October 7 and all the convicts in the disproportionate case, including Jayalalitha will have to remain in Bangalore central jail till the next hearing.

Jayalalithaa has been in jail since Saturday. She has been convicted in Rs 66 crore disproportionate case and has been sentence for four years in jail.
