To encourage tea industry and safeguard the welfare of workers of the tea industry and to cope up with international slump of tea prices in Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu Chief minister J.Jayalalitha announced the formation of price stabilization fund for green tea leaf. She also allotted 12 Crores rupees considering the prevailing price and market rate. The chief minister also announced 2 rupees extra per Kg to the small time tea growers. More than 25,000 workers would be benefited permanently.
