Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalithaa today said that she had apprised the Union Home Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh of the current situation due to the unprecedented rains and floods particularly in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Cudddalore districts over phone. In a press release, she said that the Union Home Ministry would send a team to assess the damages caused by floods heeding to her request. <br/><br/>The Chief Minister expressed her gratitude to the Centre for providing assistance of the Defence forces and the NDRF teams. She told that the flood damages was being currently assessed throughout the State and a detailed report would be submitted to the Centre seeking assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund and other Central funds next Monday. Meanwhile, the Regional Meterological Department has warned of widespread rains over the next 24 hours.
