The Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa has announced an additional subsidy of 17 crore Rs to farmers of the Cauvery Delta region on account of the ensuing long term samba crop season. In a press release today, Ms.Jayalalithaa said that farmers will be provided with 30 kg of sample seeds per acre for direct sowing with a 10 rupees subsidy and also announced increasing the acreage for certain other farm subsidies.Earlier she had allotted 53 rupees crore towards varios sops and subsidies for farmers to take up samba crop in the Cauvery delta region. Due to these measures the government will incur an additional expense of Rs. 17 crore and a total sum of Rs 70.63 crore had been allotted to Delta farmers for samba crop cultivation.
