Jawhar Sircar stresses on need for making AIR programmes for new generation

The Chief Executive officer of Prasar Bharati Mr. Jawhar Sircar has stressed the need for making programmes of All India Radio more suited for new generation. Launching the 200 Kilowatt Medium wave Digital Radio Mondial (DRM) Transmitter of Kolkata – A channel of AIR in Kolkata this afternoon Mr. Sircar said that Radio programmes have to be made according to people's choice and these have to be transmitted through mobile phone also. <br/><br/>He said that the new transmitter will ensure better quality of listening of Kolkata-A channel of AIR to the far flung areas of West Bengal and is capable of transmitting in Digital as well as Analogue mode. Speaking on the occasion the Engineer-in-Chief of AIR Mr. Animesh Chakraborty said that 36 new Digital transmitter will be launched at different parts of the country within next six months.
