Jawan remanded to 4-days police custody in gang rape case

An Army ?J?awan, accused in a gang rape case of a minor girl in a moving train, was sent to 7 day's Police custody by a court in Howrah today. The unconscious girl was rescued at Madhupur in Jharkhand from a compartment of the Howrah-Amritsar Express yesterday by the GRP with active help from a NGO. Two main accused of the crime, both Army personnel, have been identified by the Police. <br/><br/>The victim in her statement to the RPF, said that she had boarded the train from Howrah Junction to go to Jalandhar. She made an in-camera statement in a Howrah court today about the incident. GRP brought the arrested Jawan to Howrah today. He is posted at Fort William in Kolkata, the Headquarters of Army's Eastern Command. The Army Officers are cooperating the Police, a spokesperson informed.
