Improving presentation qualities of Doordarshan and All India Radio and filling up of key vacancies are the top priorities of new Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar, who assumed office today.
Talking to newsmen in New Delhi , Sircar said, both AIR and Doordarshan are good in terms of content but presentation needs improvement.
Mr Sircar said that another area he would pay attention to was staff-related issues. He said, Prasar Bharti has nearly 14,000 vacancies and a task force has re-evaluated the number of critical posts to be filled up immediately.
In reply to a query whether Prasar Bharti needed more funds for expansion, Sircar said he would rather want internal generation of funds to meet the capital expenditure.
Sircar succeeds B S Lalli, whose tenure ended in December 2010 amidst allegations of irregularities. In the interim period, Rajiv
Takru, Additional Secretary in Information and Broadcasting Ministry, was officiating CEO.
