Jawahar Navodaya Vidayalaya Lucknow was on Wednesday awarded the Nehru Running Shield for standing first at the 13th National Youth Parliament Competition. The Youth Parliament Scheme aims at familiarising the students with the practises and procedures of Parliament, techniques of discussion and debate. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning, V Narayanswamy presented the awards.AIR Correspondet says the first Youth Parliament Competition was organised in 16 schools of Delhi by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in 1966. The Youth Parliament scheme now covers over 1200 schools in the Delhi region, 1200 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and 300 Universities and colleges across the country.
