Javadekar to inaugurate transit campus of IIT in Jammu tomorrow

Union Minister for Human Resource and Development Prakash Javadekar will inaugurate the transit campus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Jammu tomorrow. <br/><br/>According to official sources, Mr. Javadekar along with MoS PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh shall reach the winter capital city of Jammu tomorrow morning where the Union Ministers are scheduled to inaugurate the IIT Jammu's transit campus.<br/><br/>A total of 90 students have been enrolled at IIT Jammu-30 each in computer science and engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering for the academic session. <br/><br/>A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed between the Department of Higher Education, Jammu and Kashmir and the Department of Higher Education in the HRD Ministry, on May 1, 2016 in this regard.<br/><br/>This has paved the way for transfer of land of the actual site measuring 159 hectare at village Jagti, Tehsil Nagrota at Jammu for setting up the IIT campus. The construction of transit campus spread over 25 acres within the actual site will start soon.
