Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today said strict compliance of environmental laws, use of technology for reducing air pollution and capacity building of municipal bodies will be among the top focus areas of his ministry in the coming years. <br/><br/>Addressing media on achievements of his ministry in the last two years, Mr. Javadekar said during the period the Centre has increased forest cover and improved the monitoring of industrial pollution.He also said 2000 environmental approvals were granted in two years for unlocking an investment of Rs 10 lakh crore with a potential of generating 10 lakh jobs.<br/><br/>Outlining the roadmap for next three years, Mr. Javadekar said the ministry will continue to take initiatives for sustainable development. He also noted that there has been a reduction in Delhi's air pollution saying the ministry held periodic review meetings with five neighboring states including Haryana,Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab to implement short-term and long term action plans in this regard. <br/><br/><br/>The Minister said government's mandate is to maintain balance and to protect the five elements of Water, Air, Fire, Sky and Earth. He also outlined about afforestation measures including the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill, which will provide Rs 42,000 crore to states.

Javadekar lists top focus areas for environment ministry
