Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has said innovative steps should be taken to increase children's interest in mathematics. Speaking at a function in New Delhi to mark National Maths Day, Mr Javadekar called for teaching vedic mathematics and abacus in schools to increase children's concentration on the subject. <br/><br/>The Minister stressed that people cannot do away with maths even in daily lives, and it is deeply ingrained in society. On the occasion, prizes were given to meritorious students. <br/><br/>National Maths Day is celebrated on 22nd December every year to mark the birth anniversary of eminent mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
