Jat agitation: 66 trains cancelled in western UP

In Uttar Pradesh, 66 trains were cancelled on the Delhi-Moradabad section today in view of the agitation by the Jat community in western parts of the state. Today is the 11th day of their agitation. Northern Railway said due to the ongoing agitation by Jat Mahasabha at Kafurpur station of Jyotibaphule Nagar more than one hundred and forty trains have been cancelled since yesterday. Meanwhile the Superintendent of police of Jyotibaphule Nagar Uday Pratap told AIR that, beside Railway Protection Force and General Rail Police, local police force have also been deployed in troubled areas to maintain law and order. Sources said that railway has sent a letter to district administration to take action against those who damaged railway property. Jat leaders are demanding reservation for their community under OBC quota in central government jobs.
