The Jat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti has indicated to call off its agitation in Uttar Pradesh. Its leader Yashpal Mallick told AIR Lucknow correspondent today that core group of the Samiti are now meeting at Hissar in Haryana for a final decision. Meanwhile, dharna is still continuing in Kafurpur. State government has tightened the security in Jat dominating western districts of the state. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, Jat Maha panchayat is also being held tomorrow at Kafurpur in Jyotyba Phulenagar to take a final decision on the agitation in the state. In Haryana, the Jat leaders, who attended the meeting with the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda yesterday, are talking to the agitators to persuade them to clear the railway tracks. Administration has expressed the hope that the agitators would lift dharna from railway tracks by this evening. After their talks with Chief Minister Hooda, the agitating Jats agreed to withdrawn their three-week-long stir. In a statement issued in Chandigarh last night, the Chief Minister said, State government has decided to set up Haryana Backward Classes Commission within a month. The Commission will consider the demand of communities of Roar, Jat, Jat Sikh, Tyagi, Bishnoi and others which wish to come under the ambit of the Backward Classes. The Jats are demanding OBC status for their community and reservation in government jobs.
