Jaswant Singh to fight as independent candidate from Barmer

Veteran BJP leader Jaswant Singh has filed his nomination papers from Barmer Lok Sabha Constituency in Rajasthan as an independent candidate.

He filed two sets of nomination papers. He was denied ticket by the BJP fielding Col. Sona Ram as party candidate who recently joined the BJP after quiting Congress.

Jaswant Singh told newspersons after filing his papers that he was contesting on principles and for the honour of the people of Barmer.

will address a meeting of his supporters in Barmer today. He reached Barmer this morning from his parental village Jasol. On the way to Barmer, at many places Jasvant supporters welcomed him. He went straight to his son, BJP MLA Manvendra Singh’s house and was greeted by his supporters.

Jaswant Singh will face Col. Sonaram of BJP and Harish Chaudhary of Congress.Col.Sonaram recently joined BJP after quitting Congress.Tomorrow Chief Minister Vasundra Raje will address an election meeting in support of Col.Sonaram at Barmer.It will be an indication to BJP workers and leaders that party will not tolerate any activity against its candidate at local level .

Reacting to the denial of ticket by the BJP to Jaswant Singh from Barmer constituency in Rajasthan, Union Minister and senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily has alleged that there is no consistency in the BJP in taking such decisions.

He said the BJP is cracking and the denial of ticket to Jaswant Singh shows that a secular leader like him has been sidelined. Without naming anybody, he said there is one-man leadership in BJP which do not want any competition.
