Japan's nuclear safety agency has decided to raise the crisis level of the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant from five to seven, the highest on the international scale. Japanese news media reported that the Agency made the decision after concluding that the radioactive material leaking from the Fukushima plant for several hours after the earthquake and tsunami last month reached the maximum severity level. They said the radioactive leakage has since declined. Yet another fire broke out at the troubled plant but reports say it was soon put out. Severe aftershocks that rattled northeastern Japan yesterday killed two people and caused a temporary loss of power at the Fukushima plant. Yet another earthquake of 6.3 magnitude has jolted Chiba Prefecture. Kyodo news agency said there is no threat of tsunami.
