The Japanese government says it will restrict imports of products from Crimea as part of new sanctions against Russia made the announcement yesterday. The sanctions also include freezing assets held in Japan by Russian individuals and groups judged to have been directly involved in Russia's annexation of Crimea and the destabilization of eastern Ukraine. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters that he hopes to see the situation in Ukraine normalized soon through diplomatic dialogue.
