Japanese Encephalitis Death Toll Increases to 105 in Odisha

With two more children deaths today, the toll due to the deadly Japanese Encephalitis virus in Malkangiri district of Odisha reached over 105 in just over two months. <br/><br/>It has also raised an alarm in the neghbouring districts too. <br/><br/>The Malkangiri district administration today decided to undertake vaccination drive against Japanese Encephalitis after conducting a three-day door-to-door survey. <br/><br/>Children in the 1 to 15 age group will be immediately vaccinated after the end of a three-day door-to-door survey on November 20, 21, and 22, official sources said.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, a five-member BJP team, including senior party leader and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will visit the district for an assessment tomorrow. <br/><br/>Party State unit chief Basanta Panda, Legislature Party leader KV Singhdeo are also the members of the team. <br/><br/>The team will visit affected villages to take stock of the situation. <br/><br/>Sources said the team will submit its report to the Union Health Minister and party national president Amit Shah.
