Japan, UK sign MoU on Nuclear power cooperation

Japanese and British Ministers in charge of energy policy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on nuclear power cooperation. Hiroshige Seko and Greg Clark met in Tokyo today. <br/><br/>They agreed that their governments will seek to conduct technological research on scrapping the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant and decontamination near the facility. <br/><br/>They also agreed to discuss planned construction of a nuclear power station in the UK. Japan's Hitachi and Toshiba are involved in the project. Based on the memorandum, Japan plans to coordinate financing for the project by government-affiliated institutions.
