Japan to send around 10 medical staff to Afghanistan

Japan is planning to send around 10 medical staff to Afghanistan by the end of the year to provide training as part of its efforts to help reconstruction in the war-torn country.Kyodo News agency, quoting sources at the defence ministry and Japanese military – known as the Self-Defence Forces – said the team would train the Afghan army's medical staff in Kabul for an initial period of six months.Apart from embassy attaches, the team will be the first Japanese military personnel to be deployed in Afghanistan, but will not be under the command of NATO's International Security Assistance Force.
