India and Japan today exchanged notes for Japan's official development loan assistance of 5,536 crore rupees to India for Chennai Metro Rail Project IV and Ahmedabad Metro Project. The notes were exchanged here between Joint Secretary in Department of Economic Affairs S Selvakumar and Charge d' Affaires of Embassy of Japan, Yutaka Kikuta. <br/><br/>The Government of Japan has committed official development assistance loan of 1080 crore rupees for the Chennai Metro Project and 4456 Crore rupees for the Ahmedabad Metro Project. India and Japan have had mutually beneficial economic development cooperation since 1958. In the last few years, the economic cooperation between India and Japan has strengthened and grown into strategic partnership.
