Japan will soon give 400 crore rupees financial assistance to the West Bengal Government for social forestry in the state. Replying to the Budget discussions in the state Assembly today the Forest Minister Mr. Hiten Barman said that the Government has increased the quantum of compensation to 2 lakh rupees for the families who died in tusker attacks.Mr. Barman also informed the House that the government has also hiked compensation for damage of crops due to elephant menace.
