India's Saina Nehwal has stormed into the quarter-finals of the women's singles in the Japan Super Series badminton tournament. In Tokyo on Thursday, the World Number Four defeated Fu Mingtian of Singapore 21-17, 21-16. However, the other Indian shuttlers bowed out of the tournament. In Men's singles, Ajay Jayaram lost to Simon Santoso of Indonesia in straight games, while Parupalli Kashyp was defeated by Chinese sixth seed Chen Jin in three games. In the mixed doubles event, V. Diju and Jwala Gutta lost to Chinese Taipei combination of Chen Hung Ling and Cheng Wen-hsing in straight games.
