Japan: Meteorological Agency says snow is expected to gradually move east and continue falling; urge people to stay at home

In Japan, a massive dump of snow is hitting the sea coast, freezing travel in some areas. Japanese weather officials are urging people in several regions to stay home. The Japan Meteorological Agency says the persistent influx of cold air is at a level not seen in several years. Some areas in western Japan are experiencing record amounts of snow for a 24-hour period.<br />'' <br />'' Officials warn the snow is expected to gradually move east and continue falling tomorrow.<br />'' <br />'' The winter weather has caused traffic headaches. A truck driver lost control on a major road in the western prefecture of Shiga, causing a traffic jam more than 2 kilometers long.<br />'' <br />'' The snow has caused more than 40 flights to be canceled.
