Japan detects elevated levels of radiation in milk, spinach

Japan have detected elevated levels of radiation in milk and spinach in areas near the crippled nuclear power plant in Fukushima prefecture. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano today told a news conference that the contaminated milk was found in Fukushima prefecture while the tainted spinach was discovered in neighbouring Ibaraki prefecture. It is the first time radiation has been detected in food since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami unleashed the nuclear crisis.
