Japan has closed its embassy in Yemen. According to Japan's Kyodo News, visa applications and other consular services were also suspended with the closure of the embassy. The move came after the United States and Britain closed their embassies there on concerns over possible terrorist attacks by al- Qaida-linked militant groups. The embassy officials said the Japanese side has no specific information about a possible attack on the embassy and it may reopen for business depending on the local security environment.
